Profile

Mr Farmer is fully trained in colonoscopy and diagnostic endoscopic procedures. He carries out a full range of colorectal work ranging from minor ano-rectal conditions to major resection. Mr Farmer also offers basic general surgery including repair of hernias, removal of lumps, bumps and circumcision

Mr Farmer's main interest is in Pelvic Floor Disorders and Functional Bowel Diseases. This includes treatment of Faecal Incontinence, Chronic Constipation and particularly Obstructed Defecation Syndrome and Rectal Prolapse.

He is a registered trainer for the Minimally Invasive Stapled Haemorrhoid Operation (PPH-Procedure for Prolapse and Haemorrhoids) and the STARR and Transtar Procedure (Stapled Trans Anal Rectal Resection). As a registered Trainer he runs Mastreclasses to teach these procedures at The University Hospital of North Staffs and attend the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg as a Trainer.

The Transtar procedure is an effective minimally invasive treatment for internal rectal prolapse and rectocoele leading to Obstructed Defecation Syndrome and constipation.
