About
SAFE
Mr O’Regan has now been a consultant in Leeds for sixteen years and has past the three thousand operations milestone. He has a national bronze award for clinical excellence. His overall mortality is 2.77% and elective mortality 1.53% with a stroke rate of less than 0.43%
EFFECTIVE
We are entering an era where the patient is looking beyond mortality as a marker of good practice. Mr O’Regan has only had two wounds problems out of more than 1500 sternal wound closures since introducing a wound care bundle in 2009. These results have been presented nationally and internationally.
EXPERIENCE
Mr O’Regan has been running a ‘fit to admit’ process since 2003 and has realised significant clinical and operational benefits that has been published in peer review journals. 95% of his elective coronary artery bypass patients go home by day five post op and many of those have elected to go home on the evening of day four. His readmissions rates are some of the lowest on the country.
Through Mr O'Regan's patient satisfaction research - 96.36% of new patients feel that he treats them with dignity and respect, 90.91% feels he listens to their concerns and 92.73% feels he explains everything they want to know.
