Dr Kinton has been a consultant neurologist since 2006, initially working at North Hampshire Hospital and Southampton General Hospital, now exclusively at Southampton General Hospital. She did her medical training at the University of Cambridge, her PhD at University College London and her neurology clinical training in Southampton and Melbourne, Australia.
Her research and clinical sub-specialty interest is in diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy in addition to weekly clinics in general neurology. She has set up joint clinics with Paediatric neurology at Southampton General Hospital to smooth the transition of young people with epilepsy to the adult clinic. She is part of the acute neurology service in Southampton General Hospital, providing neurology input to the emergency and medical admissions service at the hospital. She has national commitments, being elected as a council member of the Association of British Neurologists in 2017, and a member of their Quality committee. She is a member of the neurology specialist certificate examination board.
General Neurology, Epilepsy
Dr Kinton’s PhD studied genetic causes of epilepsy, particularly focusing on developmental abnormalities. She has been principal investigator on several neurological research trials more recently.
