In women pelvic pain can be a result of problems in the reproductive organs such as the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes or vagina.

There are many reasons for pelvic pain in both men and women. These might include:

  • Bladder problems
  • Bowel problems
  • Appendicitis
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Hernia
  • Prolapse
  • Musculosketetal problems such as Fibromyalgia, Trochanteric bursitis
  • Trapped nerves
  • Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction

If you experience sudden pelvic pain you should see your GP as soon as possible. Depending on your diagnosis you may be referred to a specialist consultant.
