Every course of treatment starts with a 45-minute initial assessment to assess your symptoms, then recommend the right plan for you and begin treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your physiotherapist will advise how many appointments you will need but you can stop treatment at any time. *Treatment price does not include specialist pelvic health physiotherapy appointments.

Physiotherapy is a profession whose aim is to encourage and support the return to normal following illness, surgery, disease or trauma. It can be effective in the treatment of a range of muscle, joint and nerve conditions.

Physiotherapists at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital use a wide range of techniques such as manual therapy and exercise prescription to maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease.

We can offer expertise in upper limb and hand rehabilitation, pain management programmes and post-surgical recovery. Many of our physiotherapists are also trained in Pilates, acupuncture and joint manipulation, carrying out thorough biomechanical assessments to enhance and optimize function.

We maintain strong links with our Brighton and Sussex based orthopaedic surgeons and have earned an excellent reputation for our rehabilitation of upper and lower limb sports injuries. In addition, we can offer vertigo and balance rehabilitation with our vestibular specialist.

Our pelvic (women’s) health service* offers treatment for the management of urinary incontinence, prolapse as well as pre and post-natal conditions such as for pelvic girdle pain and diastasis recti. We also offer a Mummy MOT service.

Lauren graduated from The University of Bath in 2018. She started her career as a Health and Wellbeing Physiologist, supporting individuals with making healthy lifestyle choices to optimise both physical and mental well-being.

Her current role involves providing pre-habilitation support to optimise outcomes for those having surgery at the hospital, as well as providing rehabilitation support for individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer. She also runs the Covid-19 rehabilitation programme for those suffering with symptoms associated with long Covid. The support from these programmes explores holistic approaches to wellbeing, with a predominant focus on exercise and Nutrition.

Owen is a Senior Physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience. He has worked for over 12 years for Nuffield health as a Senior Outpatient Physiotherapist, initially in Tunbridge Wells and now Brighton. He has a wide experience in outpatient and inpatient orthopaedic physiotherapy and rehabilitation, including fracture care.

He has a special interest in treating vestibular disorders, acupuncture, and complex post-operative rehabilitation.

Claire qualified from Brighton University in 2015 and worked for the NHS as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, she has also worked in private practice. 

Since joining Nuffield Health she has become a Pelvic (Women’s) Health Specialist and is experienced in treating such conditions as stress and urge incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and helping women recover from gynaecological surgery. 

She is experienced in treating pregnancy related pelvic girdle/lower back pain where she can also use her training in pre and post natal Pilates to support women through pregnancy and beyond. She is passionate about helping women to improve their pelvic health through education and treatment. 

Claire also performs the Mummy MOT, a specialized post-natal assessment recommended for all women following delivery – from 6 weeks to many years later. In the Mummy MOT Claire assesses the strength and function of the tummy and pelvic floor muscles to help prevent long-term childbirth-related complaints such as incontinence, low back pain and ‘mummy tummy’. 

She has a broad range of experience working with patients with spinal and musculoskeletal conditions as well as post-operative rehabilitation and inpatient orthopaedic physiotherapy. 


She is also trained in acupuncture and is a qualified Pilates instructor.

Since moving to Brighton Hospital he has taken charge of the Recovery Plus rehabilitation, helping patients get their mobility, strength and confidence back after major surgery.

He has an active interest in the more holistic side of treatment such as Yoga, Pilates and mindfulness. Oli is also Brighton Hospital’s ‘Freedom To Speak Up’ Champion and one of a small team that oversee staff wellbeing.

Victoria graduated from King’s College, London in 1997 and since then has worked both abroad and in the UK. In 2001 she completed a postgraduate Higher Diploma in healthcare at University College, Dublin.

She has worked for Nuffield Health since 2003 in a variety of hospital, gym and corporate settings. During this time, she has been involved in leading regional developmental programmes, advanced practitioner roles and recently moved towards orthopaedic rehabilitation and mentoring pre-registration university students.

From her original interest in sports injuries, musculoskeletal conditions and lower limb biomechanics/orthotics, she now applies this experience to also specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation.

Chris graduated from The University of East London in 1992. She had several years’ varied experience working as a physiotherapist in the NHS, both in the hospital and community setting in Norfolk and Brighton, before starting at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital in 1999.

Her work at Nuffield Health includes inpatient and outpatient post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation, including joint replacements and spinal surgery. Her caseload includes a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries, including neck and back pain, soft tissue sprains and strains, posture related pain/mechanical issues and sports injuries.

She also offers hand therapy, one-on-one Clinical Pilates, and treatment for Respiratory outpatients, as well as basic women’s health issues.

How can I help you improve your health?

Amy Graduated from the University of Chichester in 2016 with a degree in Sports and Exercise Science.

Since graduating she has worked in the NHS as an assistant physiotherapist helping patients day 1 post-operation to regain mobility and provide exercise-based recommendations to aid with recovery. Amy has experience working with cardiovascular rehabilitation patients in the NHS which continues to be her interest.

Her work at Nuffield Health includes taking venepuncture; conducting resting and exercise ECGs; blood pressure testing; movement and postural health assessments; emotional wellbeing discussions; and recommendations regarding diet and exercise in order to improve clients’ health and reduce their risk of future diseases. Amy has recently done a menopause CPD where she has gained knowledge of nutrition and exercise recommendations to help ease the symptoms of menopause.
