About
Mrs Stocker was appointed as a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon in 2006, and is trained in the full range of maxillofacial surgery. She has extensive experience in the management of diseases of the face, mouth, jaws and neck and has presented internationally on a number of topics.
Within the specialty she has a particular interest in the management of facial and TMJ pain, oral medicine (red and white patches, lumps and bumps, oral mucosal disease), salivary gland disorders (the management of dry mouth, salivary gland stones and infection) and dentoalveolar surgery - including cysts, benign lesions of the jaws, wisdom teeth and surgical tooth removal. Her NHS sub specialist interest is the management of facial and craniofacial trauma and its immediate and long term consequences - including scar management and Coleman fat transfer. She is particularly experienced in the management of orbital (eye socket) injuries.
Her dental undergraduate training was completed in Bristol, and she undertook her medical degree in Leeds, completing her general surgical training at the Yorkshire School of Surgery. She gained FRCS in 2001, with the FRCS (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) being completed in 2005. Unlike many maxillofacial surgeons, she is keen to maintain her links to her initial dental training, and continues to be registered with the General Dental Council.
Other interests
Judith has a particular interest in education and was the first maxillofacial surgeon to present on educational topics within the specialty - gaining her Certificate in Medical Education whilst still a higher specialist trainee. She teaches at Warwick University and also at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Locally, she is a trainer for the West Midlands rotation in maxillofacial surgery. She is always happy to help practices out with education, this service is free of charge.
Personal interests
A developing menagerie, including dogs, chickens and a small herd of alpacas. Devoted to her garden!
