About

Mr Simon Tilley is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with specialist training in both routine and complex hip and knee replacements and complex revision hip and knee surgery, which he regularly undertakes at Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital in Hampshire.

He trained at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust. During his training he was also awarded a BSc in tumour biology before qualifying in 1999.

Before taking up his consultant post at Southampton General Hospital, Simon undertook three fellowships. He worked as a senior hip and knee fellow in Sydney with the Specialist Orthopaedic Group, one of the most prestigious joint replacement fellowships available to visiting surgeons. Two further fellowships followed in Southampton concentrating on complex hip and knee replacement surgery.

Mr Tilley employs a truly multidisciplinary approach to hip and knee surgery. He believes passionately that the combination of patients taking an active role in the decision making process together with dedicated multi-disciplinary team input improve outcomes. He has developed an expertise with many types of hip and knee replacement designs and is well placed to offer the most appropriate design to his patients. This includes gender specific knee implants and the use of advanced bearings including ceramics, which are hoped to last considerably longer than traditional designs.

Mr Tilley collects patient reported outcome measures (PROMS) on all of his joint replacements.

Mr Tilley specialises in the following treatments at the Nuffield Health Wessex Nuffield Hospital:
