About
Mr Simon Fisher studied medicine at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, graduating in Medicine and Pharmacology in 1999, before studying Clinical Medicine at University College, London.
After completing his PhD at the University of London, Mr Fisher began his surgical training, working in Cambridge for 2 years. He then undertook his Higher Surgical Specialist Training, completing a further 7 years on the South West Rotation. This included a year at the Birmingham Liver Unit gaining experience in liver and pancreas surgery and liver transplant. After achieving a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and entry on to the Specialist Register, Mr Fisher completed a further fellowship at the Liver Unit in Aintree, Liverpool working for Prof Graeme Poston.
Mr Fisher is a Consultant Upper GI and General Surgeon at Hereford County Hospital. In addition to this, he is also the Clinical Director of Surgery, the Upper GI Cancer Lead and a JAG-accredited interventional endoscopist. At the Nuffield Health Wolverhampton Hospital, Mr Fisher provides care for patients with Upper GI, Hepatobiliary and General Surgery problems. In particular, Gallbladder and Gallstone disease; Gastro-oesophageal
Reflux Disease (GORD) and hernia repair. He performs both laparoscopic (key-hole)
and open surgery.
