About

Mr. Richard Jeavons is a specialist Shoulder, Elbow and Trauma Surgeon serving Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Darlington, Durham and North Yorkshire.

After completing his higher surgical training, Mr. Jeavons was added to the General Medical Council Specialist Register in 2013. He undertook two specialist fellowships; the first a British Orthopaedic Association Trauma fellowship at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, a Major Trauma centre. The second the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of England approved Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship at South Tees NHS Trust. 

His current NHS Shoulder, Elbow & Trauma Surgery practice is at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trust, where he is the Lead for Orthopaedic Trauma.

Mr. Jeavons is a specialist in contemporary shoulder & elbow surgery undertaking joint replacements for arthritis; arthroscopic (keyhole) and open solutions for impingement, instability, rotator cuff tears, nerve decompression, surgery for acromioclavicuar joint dysfunction; management of general & upper limb specific trauma. He has a special interest in sports injuries of the shoulder and elbow. 

He is an advocate for awake shoulder and elbow surgery, performing appropriate cases without a general anaesthetic and is one of a select group of surgeons in the North East that offers elbow joint replacement surgery and revision surgery for failed or infected shoulder and elbow replacements.

Mr. Jeavons also offers Day Case Arthroplasty (shoulder or elbow replacements performed and patients discharged home the same day), appropriate patients. 

Having attended Leeds University, he attained degrees in both Medical Sciences (Hons) & Medicine. He undertook Basic Surgical Training in the Yorkshire School of Surgery, before progressing onto Higher Surgical Training in Orthopaedics & Trauma within the Northern Deanery. 

He is continually involved in teaching and training of Orthopaedic Surgeons & Allied Healthcare Professionals (Physiotherapists and Surgical Care Practitioners). He organises an annual shoulder arthroscopy course and cadaveric Upper Limb trauma course. He teaches regularly on national and regional courses about the shoulder, elbow, trauma and preparation for the FRCS examination. He is Treasurer for the OrthNorth Teaching and Educational Association, which oversees the Training of the Specialist Orthopaedic Trainees in the Northern Deanery.

Mr. Jeavons undertakes personal injury Medico legal work, specialising injuries of the upper limb.
