About
Mr Thomas is the assigned foot and ankle surgeon for the Welsh FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence.
Mr Thomas graduated from University College Hospital, London in 1990.
He was awarded the BOA/Wishbone Trust Travelling Fellowship in 2001 and spent a year with Dr Tim Daniels in Toronto where he specialised in adult foot and ankle surgery.
Subsequent to this he was awarded Travelling Fellowships by both the European and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Rhys was appointed as a Consultant in Cardiff & Vale UHB in 2003. He set up and supervises the Cardiff foot and ankle Fellowship.
Rhys served on the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Education Committee from 2015-22.
Rhys is Honorary Surgeon to both the Welsh Rugby Union and Football Association of Wales & was orthopaedic surgeon at the World Cup in Qatar.
Mr Thomas works with professional and recreational athletes across a
wide variety of sports including Premier League & EFL football, English
Premiership & URC Rugby and ECB Cricket. He is a Fellow of the
Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
