About
Mr Joideep Phadnis is a consultant at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals.
His area of expertise is Shoulder & Elbow Surgery and he provides a tertiary level service for all aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery including joint replacement, key hole surgery, sports injuries, trauma and soft tissue conditions such as rotator cuff repairs, biceps problems and shoulder & elbow instability.
He is an honorary senior lecturer at Brighton & Sussex Medical school and is involved in teaching, research and mentorship of medical students. He is a regularly invited speaker on international and national courses to teach and demonstrate surgical techniques to other consultants.
Mr Phadnis is actively involved in local and national research and development related to Shoulder & elbow surgery and has published over 50 peer reviewed articles and contributed to several books on topics which directly reflect his clinical practice and expertise. Away from work Mr Phadnis is a keen sports man and continues to play competitive football, enjoys skiing, running and spending time with his young family.

Research
Research is at the core of Mr Phadnis’ practice. He supervises medical students, trainee doctors, fellows and university students with research.
He has published over 50 scientific articles in the peer reviewed literature and his research is ongoing and expanding. He is currently involved in several national and international research endeavours related to shoulder and elbow surgery.
His recent publications include articles on shoulder and elbow replacement, shoulder and elbow instability, soft tissue problems related to the shoulder and elbow, innovative techniques in shoulder and elbow, as well as patient safety and consent.
In addition he has co-authored several books on various aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery and produced a number of web based instructional videos to help other surgeons learn advanced techniques in shoulder and elbow surgery.
