About
Glenn Clewer is a private Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, serving patients from Cardiff, Newport, the Vale of Glamorgan and across South Wales. Glenn has specialist interests in knee surgery, and as a private knee surgery consultant performs knee replacement surgery and treats trauma and soft tissue disorders of the hand.
Glenn’s sub-specialist interest in knee surgery is soft tissue injuries. This encompasses ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair and cartilage regenerative techniques.
Glenn Clewer's interest as a private hand surgery consultant extends to Dupuytrens’ Disease, carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger surgery.
Glenn undertook his early surgical training in and around South Wales after graduating from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff in 1998; it was during this time that he obtained a Diploma in Orthopaedic Engineering. In 2003 he gained a place on the national and internationally renowned Oswestry higher surgical training scheme in orthopaedics and trauma. Glenn was trained extensively at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, which is one of only five purely orthopaedic hospitals in the UK, and at the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary, Stoke. During this time he developed his specialist interests in trauma and knee surgery.
After completing his higher surgical training and becoming a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Trauma and Orthopaedics, Glenn then gained further expertise by undertaking two fellowships in his areas of specialist interests.
Glenn undertook a specialist trauma fellowship at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, one of the very few dedicated trauma centres. This exposure throughout his training and fellowships lead to Glenn becoming the trauma lead for the Cwm Taff Local Heath Board in South Wales. He also gained a highly competitive soft tissue knee fellowship with Tim Spalding, an internationally recognised soft tissue knee surgeon at the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
