About
Alun John is native of Llandeilo and a Welsh speaker. He attended Medical School of St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. His Orthopaedic training was undertaken in Wales and Australia.
Since being appointed as a consultant in Cardiff University Hospital 20 years ago he has specialised in hip replacement surgery and performs up to 300 primary and revision hip replacement operations per year. He has therefore gained considerable experience in the treatment of people with arthritic hips who need primary and revision(re-do) hip replacement surgery. He has helped several thousand people with disabling hip pain return to normal activities.
He will try to understand how your hip is affecting you and offer a solution to improve your problems. He will discuss all options with you to help you come to the best decision. His aim is to make sure that you understand his opinion clearly before you leave the consulting room. He understands that the decision to undergo an operation can be difficult and that you will need time to discuss your options in detail. On proceeding with an operation at The Nuffield Health Vale Hospital he will use implants that have met the highest quality standard and will follow you up until he is sure you are pleased with the result of the surgery.
