About
Dr Stephen Orme qualified in Manchester University (MB ChB) in 1984 and did medical rotations in Manchester and Liverpool. He attained my MRCP in 1998 and came to Leeds in January 1989 as a Registrar in Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine at the Leeds General Infirmary.
Between 1990 and 1993 Dr Orme was a Research Fellow in the Department of Endocrinology at Leeds General Infirmary and moved to Sheffield as a Senior Registrar in 1993.
Dr Orme returned to Leeds in November 1997 as a Consultant Endocrinologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Medicine.

Personal interests
Dr Orme is married with three grown up daughters. His wife is a GP in Leeds. Outside of medicine, he is an avid theatre goer, middling tennis player and an enthusiastic skier.

Research
Dr Orme's areas of research include pituitary diseases, specifically acromegaly, thyroid and adrenal disease, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. He was awarded an MD in 1997 for major research into morbidity and mortality in acromegaly, and this research has informed the management of patients with acromegaly, worldwide.
