About
Dr Gulam Patel trained at Cambridge University & Middlesex/UCH Hospitals Medical School. He has been in NHS and private sector practice as a Consultant Rheumatologist since 2001. He has over thirty years of experience as a Doctor and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007.
He is currently Clinical Lead for Rheumatology Services at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals (ASPH) where he has been instrumental in setting up the Early Arthritis Clinic. He combines his clinical work with involvement in research and education. His contribution to high quality healthcare has been recognised by three Clinical Excellence Awards.
His passion for education has resulted in the prestigious
Teaching Excellence Award from Imperial College and more recently Imperial
College Principal Clinical Teacher status in 2020. He combines the roles of Director of Clinical
Studies at Imperial College with Undergraduate Sub-Dean at St George’s,
University of London where he is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer. In addition he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer
at Royal Holloway, University of London where he is a lecturer and an
examiner. Dr Patel is a very popular
teacher of GPs at ASPH and features regularly on their Primary Care teaching
schedule.
