About
After general training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Berlin, Germany and receiving his CCT, Professor Becker spent five years at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA working on novel treatment approaches for endometriosis.
In 2005 Professor Becker became a Clinical Lecturer and Subspecialist Trainee in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery in Oxford.
In 2009 he was appointed as Consultant Gynaecologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital and since 2014 has become an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford.
Professor Becker is the Clinical Lead and Co-Director of the Oxford Endometriosis Care Centre, the largest BSGE-accredited Endometriosis Centre in the UK and, as such, sees many women suffering from pain and infertility. Apart from the clinical work, Professor Becker is passionate about research in endometriosis and related gynaecological conditions. He was a co-opted member of the NICE guideline committee for endometriosis and is the current Chair of the ESHRE Endometriosis Development Group.
As a subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery and RCOG Trainer of Reproductive Medicine Fellows, Professor has a special interest in helping women and couples to overcome infertility. He is also part of the fertility preservation service for children and young women in Oxford.

Research
Professor Becker is the Co-Director of the Oxford Endometriosis CaRe Centre where they aim to combine excellent clinical management with world-class research. As such the team is investigating possible biomarkers for endometriosis, potential genetic causes of the condition and try to identify novel therapeutic targets. They are involved in various clinical studies as well as large-scale international collaborations.
Professor Becker has published many peer-reviewed papers in the field, was a member of the ESHRE Guideline Development Group for the Management of Endometriosis, and is an expert witness for the NICE Guideline Development for Endometriosis.
