About

Dr Ludman is a Consultant Cardiologist with experience in all areas of cardiology. He sees patients for all problems that may be related to the heart, including chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, high blood pressure and reducing the risk of future heart problems.

His sub-specialty interests include heart failure, cardiomyopathy (disease of the heart muscle) and advanced cardiovascular imaging (MRI, CT and echocardiography).

Dr Ludman qualified from University of Wales College of Medicine in 2002 before pursuing post graduate training in a number of prestigious London hospitals as well as undertaking an international fellowship in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr Ludman continues to actively participate in leading research studies and has published a number of research papers, book chapters and textbooks. He has recently contributed to NICE guidelines on acute heart failure and is an Honorary Lecturer, teaching at the University of Exeter medical school.

Dr Andrew Ludman is one of five directors of Exeter Heart, which owns non-invasive cardiology equipment. Consultants who use this equipment charge their own fees for doing so. A fee for use of the equipment is negotiated between Exeter Heart or Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital and patients' private medical insurer by reference to the investigatory procedure undertaken. Exeter Heart's staff, maintenance and other running costs come out of this hospital fee.
