Nuffield Health officially opens 77th Fitness & Wellbeing Gym in Moorgate

Leading not-for-profit healthcare organisation Nuffield Health has officially opened its 77th Fitness and Wellbeing gym in Moorgate.

Formerly The CityPoint Club, the Nuffield Health gym on Ropemaker Street, Moorgate, has undergone the first stage of a £3million refurbishment. Taking 5 months to update, it now features an improved gym area with the latest fitness equipment such as a Woodway Curve treadmill and Watt Bikes, which are endorsed by the British Cycling team. In addition, the gym has had top of the range Life Fitness Insignia and Cable Motion strength equipment installed as well as new Star Trac computerised spin bikes.

Unlike other gyms, Nuffield Health has also added one of its unique medical clinics, which features on-site physiotherapists, physiologists and doctors. This is the 29th medical clinic Nuffield Health has opened within its Fitness & Wellbeing Gyms and it aims to provide members and non-members with integrated healthcare all in one place. Londoners can book in for physiotherapy without referral from their doctor, have travel vaccinations, book GP services and receive a Health Assessment which gives a detailed view of a person’s health covering key concerns such as diabetes, cancer risk, heart health and emotional wellbeing. For those customers undertaking Health Assessments, an onsite laboratory has been added to analyse key tests and give immediate results.

Dr Andrew Jones, Chief Operating Officer at Nuffield Health comments: “Today is a great milestone for Nuffield Health and we are very proud to add the Moorgate site to our portfolio of fitness and wellbeing gyms. Our aim has always been to help people get healthy and then stay healthy and by offering a complete health and wellbeing service all under one roof really helps with this vision. We believe this is the future of healthcare.”

The Moorgate opening is just one of the latest developments Nuffield Health has announced, with an additional Fitness & Wellbeing gym in Shoreditch recently acquired, increasing the healthcare organisation’s presence in London further. These acquisitions are part of Nuffield Health’s long term strategy to create a national network of health, fitness and wellbeing gyms and increase its presence in key cities throughout the UK.

Earlier this month a planning application for a state-of-the-art integrated hospital and wellbeing gym in Manchester was revealed. It will be the most modern and technologically advanced tertiary hospital in the UK and will comprise of 30 consultation rooms, 60 patient en-suite bedrooms, eight critical care beds, six operating theatres and diagnostic imaging suite. A rehabilitation gym with physiotherapy will also be provided.
