We are located over three different sites, our fully equipped hospital site at Derriford, our Devonshire Health and Racquets Club adjacent to the hospital, as well as our city based Plymouth Fitness & Wellbeing Gym at Cattedown. This allows our patients from across the region access to state of the art facilities for your health and wellbeing, wherever you live!

The hospital is our main site, with full outpatient facilities as well as our theatres and ward. The hospital has numerous functions including pre-operative screening, imaging and scanning and where the operations are performed. Initial rehabilitation also occurs here, as well as consultant, nursing staff, radiology and physiotherapy appointments. Physiotherapy here can be timed to suit your other appointments such as reviews with your consultant or nurse. 

As part of our multi-disciplinary team our physiotherapists frequently have sessions together with other healthcare professionals so that all aspects of your care are covered and communicated effectively throughout the team. We also offer free onsite parking and evening appointments at this site.

How can I help you improve your health?

I qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2012 and started my career working as a physiotherapist in the NHS where I gained experience in elective orthopaedics, trauma, respiratory, neurology and paediatrics.

I went on to develop a keen interest in orthopaedics and have worked in a private healthcare setting for a number of years specialising in pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation and hand therapy. I started my career with Nuffield in July 2022 and have continued to work in an inpatient and outpatient setting developing these skills.

I use a wide range of treatment techniques and incorporates evidence based practice through continual professional development, ensuring my patients achieve the best possible outcomes.

I qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2003 and did my initial rotations in the NHS, before spending the majority of my career with the military then joining Nuffield Health in 2011 and the role of Physiotherapy Manager in 2013.

I strive to ensure that my patients have an understanding of the root cause of their problem and to enable them to fulfil their potential from acute to later stage rehabilitation.

I graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2017 and initially started my career rotating in the NHS before moving abroad to work for the Gibraltar Health Authority. During this time I have gained experience across different areas of physiotherapy and developed a special interest in treating musculoskeletal conditions and sporting injuries.

I am passionate about delivering a holistic approach to health care that focuses on peoples personalised goals. My previous degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences has provided me with the knowledge of how physical activity and sport can promote health physically, mentally and socially. Amanda works as the senior inpatient physiotherapist lead at the Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital.

Prior to working for Nuffield Health, Amanda worked in the NHS for eight years. After completing her core rotations she worked in senior level jobs in respiratory, paediatrics and then in orthopaedics.

Amanda’s wealth of experience has given her the skills to assess and treat the complexities of the various surgical and orthopaedic patients within the hospital setting.

Amanda strives to offer excellent post-operative rehabilitation based on evidence based protocols and prides herself in the delivery of the best possible practice to all of her patients.

How can I help you improve your health?

I started my working life within the NHS where I completed my junior rotations, before joining the Nuffield in 2014. I have worked across the south-west in our Taunton, Exeter and Plymouth sites, gaining a knowledge of the company throughout.

I have a special interest in all things lower limb, but more specifically knee and foot issues and I have worked hard to maintain a close link with our lower limb surgeons to provide linked-up care for all of my patients.

I am currently completing my Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, which will allow me to further my skills as a practitioner and increase my scope of practice within the company.

I believe in shared decision-making with each of my patients, and working hard to inform my patients about their conditions to aid any treatment option choices that are made.
