Symptoms can include:

  • Numbness or tingling in the area
  • Increased pain in the area
  • Cramping of your toes
  • Pain in the ball of your foot when walking

Wearing tight shoes or shoes that rub near your third and fourth toe can cause an increase in symptoms.

Treatment for Morton’s Neuroma can be as simple as changing the type of shoes you wear or wearing specially made orthotic devices in your shoes. Your GP may prescribe anti-inflammatory painkillers. Some cases may benefit from steroid or anaesthetic injections.

If your symptoms do not respond to conservative treatment your GP may refer you to a specialist Orthopaedic Consultant who may discuss surgical treatment.
