Why choose Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital for your cancer care?

At Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital, we are able to deliver comprehensive private cancer services across the region.

We are co-located with the NHS Trust regional cancer centre, St Lukes, and as a result we have a team of eminent physicians, surgeons, oncologists, palliative care specialists and expert nurses all providing excellent private cancer care.

Our Private Oncology Unit

We are very fortunate to have a private Oncology wing where patients have privacy and comfort away from the main outpatient and inpatient activities of the hospital and can fully focus on their treatment and recovery in peace.

The Unit has 8 chemotherapy treatment rooms, where patients can sit with other patients and relatives whilst treatment takes place. Each room accommodates up to 3 patients. We have consulting rooms within the unit where patients are seen by their oncologist and supported by nurses.

The Unit is staffed by a dedicated experienced Oncology nursing team who are on hand to provide advice on every aspect of care for patients and relatives throughout the course of treatment. You can speak to any of us at any time, and we are happy to help you by liaising with GPs or other specialists you may need for support. We also have access to Macmillan Oncology dieticians who can give advice on nutrition requirements and we work closely with McMillan Cancer Support for information and support.

Palliative care

The hospital offers a comprehensive palliative care service made up of a Consultants in Palliative Medicine, who is supported by our Clinical Nurse Specialists in Palliative Care.

Chemotherapy services

Our chemotherapy unit is staffed by an oncology manager and a fully qualified expert nursing team including Macmillan clinical nurse specialists in palliative and oncological care and we have a team of experienced Oncologists.

Radiotherapy treatment is carried out at the St Lukes Cancer Centre, a regional NHS Cancer Centre and part of the highly regarded NHS Trust Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Pastoral Care and Services

There is a lot of research to support the use of complementary therapies in the healing process for cancer and consequently we offer a reflexology service in the Unit as well as have access to the Royal Surrey County Hospital's Fountain Centre who offer a further range of therapies. We work with the Royal Surrey Hospital to provide a pastoral care service for all patients.

Specialist Surgical and Nursing Support

In Guildford, we work with highly respected, world renowned surgeons who regularly carry out highly complex cancer surgery at our hospital.

On our ward, we have 4 acute dependency beds and a clinical nursing team who are experienced in managing pre and post-operative cancer surgery, including nurses with enhanced cancer care qualifications.

Thanks to this extensive expertise we can provide treatment for most cancers, and we also run a specialist breast screening service and a breast cancer patient support group.

We’ve been awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark, an award that was developed in collaboration with more than 400 people living with cancer, who helped to shape its criteria. The Macmillan QEM recognises that Nuffield Heath Guildford Hospital provides a welcoming and comfortable environment for people with cancer. It also acknowledges that we respect our visitors’ privacy, we treat you with dignity and that our facilities will help improve your wellbeing.
