Dr Tanner trained in cardiology at Royal Brompton, Hammersmith, and St Mary’s Hospitals in London. He completed a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at Imperial College and was appointed Consultant Cardiologist, St Richard’s Hospital in 2010. Dr Tanner also practices at the Hammersmith Hospital on a bi-monthly basis.
His contribution to clinical excellence, research, and
innovation has been acknowledged in his current appointments as an Honorary
Clinical Senior Lecturer (Imperial College, London), Fellow of the European
Society of Cardiology and as an Expert Advisor for a number of NICE cardiology
committees (digital technologies in heart rhythm disorders (AF) and novel pacing
techniques in heart failure).

Research
Dr Tanner’s doctorate was undertaken at the internationally renowned Royal Brompton Hospital, and was awarded the National Heart & Lung Institute Thesis Prize. He has 30 peer-reviewed publications, covering a number of areas of cardiology including advanced pacing techniques in heart failure, the use of digital technology to diagnose heart rhythm disorders, and cardiac MRI.
