Profile:

Mr Waddington is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon specialising in Ankle and Foot Surgery and Lower Limb Biomechanics. In 2005 Mr Waddington attained his Fellowship in Podiatric Surgery under the guidance of the surgical faculty SCPOD and completed his CCST in 2009. As a lower and higher surgical trainee, he was the elected (co-opted) trainee member to the Faculty Board of Podiatric Surgery, SCPOD 2002-2006.

Throughout his junior training he worked across both Orthopaedic and Rheumatology directorates in the acute hospital setting, helping to establish specialist foot and ankle clinics using a multidisciplinary approach with a view to develop the best local care possible for the patients referred. Mr Waddington has been able to compound and expand his knowledge and enthusiasm for biomechanics and gait-related problems within the field of the NHS through research using computerised pedobarography, and as a past member of the Podiatric Biomechanics Group, a postgraduate research forum and the Podiatry and Rheumatic Care Association.

He has previously been an active member of both Rheumatology and, latterly, Biomechanics Clinical Effectiveness Special Interest Groups for the North West Region. In July 1997, he retained the position of consultant at a commercial insole laboratory in Preston, Lancashire. Mr Waddington is currently the department lead for Podopaediatrics and Musculoskeletal Science working closely with the Foot Health Service, Surgical Appliances and the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma as required.  His substantive post as a Lecturer Practitioner at the University of Salford has run for over 4 academic years now enabling him to continue his education output to under and post graduate students across a number of topic areas.
