About
Mr Richard Baker is a specialist joint replacement consultant surgeon who has worked at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital since it opened in 2013, and The Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital, since 2012.
Mr Baker has dedicated his entire career to Orthopaedic surgery and research since graduating from Manchester University in 1999. He subsequently trained in joint replacement surgery in Bristol and Vancouver, and now performs over 250 joint replacements a year. He specialises in both primary hip and knee replacements, including partial medial knee replacements and revision surgery of both hip and knee replacements.
He prides himself on his warm bedside manner, and his ability to offer patient-centered joint replacement surgery and follow-up hospital care in partnership with consultant anaesthetist Dr Steve Tolchard. Together, the two consultants have performed in excess of 1700 joint replacements since 2012.
Mr Baker is the editor-in-chief of Hip International, the only journal
dedicated to hip surgery and disease, and is actively involved in teaching
junior doctors and medical students.
