About
Mr Mo Majid is a Senior Consultant Eye Surgeon at Bristol Eye Hospital. He consults privately in Bristol, Bath, Swindon and Cardiff, including Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital and Cardiff Bay Hospital. He is often fondly called 'Mr Magic' by many of his patients, and with good reason!
He is a Renowned Expert in Cataract Surgery and also Advanced Vision Correction Surgery, and is the most experienced Independent Vision Correction Consultant in the Bristol area, having set up the service at the Nuffield Bristol Hospital. He has extensive experience with all the latest lenses, including Premium Multifocal and Toric Lenses, as well as the more traditional monofocal lenses. He also offers Implantable CL surgery for patients of all ages looking to remove the need for glasses and contact lenses.
Mr Majid has advanced skills in managing problems related to cataract surgery, and is the 'Go-to-Person' for second opinions and repairing complications. His own complication rate is among the best in the country, at 0% on the National Eye Surgeons Audit database.
As well as his skills in Cataract and Vision Correction, Mr Majid is a renowned expert in Retinal Detachment and Macular Surgery, Medical Retina, Uveitis and Eyelid Surgery, having passed Advanced Senior Fellowships in each of these disciplines. Few Consultants have such broad and extensive training.
Mr Majid is regularly referred patients from all over the South West of England and Wales for his expertise in managing complex surgical problems and also sees patients from overseas by special request. He has operated on other eye surgeons and their families, which is a testament to his skill and composure as a surgeon.
Because of his extensive training background, Mr Majid has been in a position to personally supervise the training of over 50 Senior Trainee Surgeons from countries including USA, Australia, Singapore, Germany, South America, Italy, the Middle East, Pakistan and India. He has trained them in the disciplines of Advanced Cataract Surgery, Medical and Surgical Retina, Ocular Inflammatory diseases and Oculoplastic/Orbital Surgery. It gives him a great sense of pride and satisfaction that they now practice as Consultant Eye Surgeons all over the world!
Throughout his career, he has been involved in many pioneering clinical research trials, leading to new innovations and has published many papers in internationally recognized medical journals. He was also awarded a PhD from the University of Bristol for his research on macular degeneration.
Mr Majid is able to treat the following conditions: cataract surgery, detached retina, macular degeneration, macular holes, diabetes and macular diseases, diabetic eye disease, orbital disease, failing vision, glaucoma, loss of vision, eyelid cyst removal, Lacrimal disorders, eye bags and floaters. He consults privately throughout the week, where you can see him personally and have surgery with him and with no long waiting lists!

Mr Majid has published over 30 peer reviewed papers in many internationally renowned journals. His PhD thesis on macular degeneration was published by the University of Bristol. He has participated in over 30 international multicentre controlled clinical trials, many of which have led to the introduction of new treatments for eye diseases, used worldwide today.
