Mr Dexter Perry

Mr Dexter Perry graduated from Southampton University in 1999 and undertook his surgical training in the Wessex region. After a research period at Southampton University into the molecular biology of bowel cancer 1996-97, he completed his fellowship training in breast surgery and plastics in Salisbury (the first post in the country).

He has been a senior registrar in Bournemouth since 2001 and a consultant at RBCH since 2003. He has specialist interests in Breast, Oncoplastics and Reconstruction, skin cancer and melanoma as well as surgical oncology.

Mr Perry developed several services including founding and expanding the Melanoma MDT in Bournemouth and then Dorset, and was the lead surgeon for this.

Mr Perry also founded and developed the BACSUP service for cancer patients, successfully trialling and developing bespoke exercise programmes for breast cancer patients and rolling out for patients with bowel, lung, prostate and haematological cancers. This received national recognition and won several awards, and was cited by the Prime Minister as an exemplary service.

He has been head of governance for the Royal Bournemouth and Chrischurch NHS Trust (as Associate Medical Director), cancer lead in skin for Dorset, chairman of the Medical Staff Committee, chairman of the Dorset Breast Cancer Group, chairman of the Dorset Skin Cancer Group as well as numerous other committees and bodies, including writing and directing the Hospital Revue Shows. He continues to Chair the Clinical Ethics Committee.
