About

Dr Robert Marshall gained an Academic Scholarship to Canford School in Dorset, and subsequently graduated in Medicine from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’s  Hospitals in London. After junior medical posts in London, Dr Robert Marshall undertook his general professional training in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, before moving to Bristol in 2001 to start his rheumatology training at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. After a year’s Educational Fellowship in Bristol and Bath, he moved to Hampshire to complete his training in Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Poole.

Dr Marshall took up his Consultant post at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in 2006. Since then he has worked hard to improve the quality of care, helping to expand the rheumatology department, introducing new care pathways, serving as audit lead, and teaching medical students and junior doctors. His work led to a British Society for Rheumatology Best Practice Award in 2013. He has been Clinical Lead for the department since 2014, and continues to foster a culture of excellent clinical care, research, and training.
