Miss MacGregor graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 1986 and initially trained in surgery in Edinburgh and Glasgow. She subsequently trained in otolaryngology at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.
She has also worked at the Middlesex and Hammersmith Hospitals before returning to Glasgow and taking up a consultant post at Gartnavel General Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children Yorkhill in 1997. She has been a consultant at the Glasgow Nuffield since 1998.
Research:
Miss MacGregor has published and lectured widely on her particular interests of paediatric ENT, voice disorders and head and neck cancer. She has written several book chapters, has published well over twenty articles in peer review journals and she reviews papers for a number of journals including the International Journal of Paediatric Otolaryngology.
Her current research interests include voice disorders in teachers and the management of neck lumps in children.
Other interests:
Miss MacGregor’s main interests include paediatric ear, nose and throat disorders such as tonsillitis, glue ear, enlarged adenoids, nasal obstruction, snoring and deafness. She also has an interest in throat and voice problems, and head and neck lumps (including cancer) in both adults and children. She is interested in the professional and singing voice and runs a specialist voice clinic.
She teaches on a number of national courses and is on the faculty of The British Academic Conference in Otolaryngology, The British Paediatric Otolaryngology Course and Expert Opinion in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery amongst others. She is an intercollegiate examiner for the intercollegiate specialty board and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
