Mike is from Perthshire and is a graduate of Edinburgh University. He trained in Edinburgh and Glasgow and has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Greater Glasgow and Clyde since 1986.
He was a Senior Clinical Member of the team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, which developed the NHS IVF Programme, resulting in the first birth in 1985.
He subsequently set up a very successful NHS Ovulation Induction and Gamete Intra Fallopian Transfer (GIFT) service for patients with unexplained infertility.
He has been actively involved with the development of the Assisted Conception Unit at Nuffield Health Glasgow since 1986, and has carried out research and published original articles in the Diagnosis and Management of Fertility Problems.

Personal interests:
Mike is a keen hill walker and completed his first round of the Munros in 1999. He also enjoys cycling and golf in his spare time.
