New approval for Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital means greater access to expert advice and diagnosis for children under three
The Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital has been granted approval by the Healthcare Commission to provide out-patient consultations and diagnostic services to children under the age of three.
Gill Cockley, Matron said: “We are delighted that the Healthcare Commission found that our application demonstrated we have appropriate staffing, systems and processes in place to provide consultations and diagnostics services to under-threes.
“Our Lead Paediatric Nurse has worked hard with the rest of her team and the specialist consultants to ensure we meet the criteria necessary to be awarded the registration with the Healthcare Commission, and we are all looking forward to seeing parents with their young children at the hospital.”
As with many other hospitals in the independent sector, the Nuffield Health hospital’s previous registration with the Healthcare Commission restricted the provision of services to children of three and over. Now, however, children under three can be examined by specialists in out-patients and have diagnostic tests such as X-rays, blood tests and hearing tests, although they cannot be admitted as in-patients for treatment.
To arrange a specialist consultation for their child, parents should obtain a referral from their GP and call to make an appointment on 01223 370922 or email cambridge.clinics@nuffieldhealth.org.uk
