Europe’s First 64-Slice Mobile CT Service Takes to the Road

The first 64-slice mobile CT scanner to be made available in Europe has been introduced into the UK by Nuffield Health Diagnostics.

Equipped with the latest Philips Brilliance™ CT scanner with 64-slice configuration, the mobile means that patients can access the very latest scanning technology at locations where it is not possible to build a static unit.

“It is great to chalk up a ‘first’. We offer CT scanning across our network and we are in the process of upgrading some units to 64-slice capability so it makes sense to create a mobile service with the very latest technology.

The unit is finished to a high specification and features an on-board patient waiting area with comfortable leather seating, changing rooms and television.

The Philips scanner delivers large volume, thin slice coverage to improve image quality and diagnostic confidence. Photographic quality 3-D images of the heart, brain, blood vessels, skeletal system and internal organs can be obtained in a matter of seconds.

The service provides physicians and their patients with advanced cardiac, abdominal, thoracic, vascular, orthopaedic, neurology and dental applications.

It is already hard at work, delivering scans at Nuffield Health Warwick, North Staffordshire, Brentwood, Brighton and Plymouth Hospitals.
