After reality TV star Jade Goody’s diagnosis and subsequent high profile battle with cervical cancer, Nuffield Health Haywards Heath Hospital has received a ten-fold increase in enquiries about its cervical screening service.
According to Cancer Research UK, approximately 2800 woman are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK each year. Two of every 100 cancers diagnosed in woman are cervical cancers, which makes it the second most common cancer in woman under 35-years old.
Cervical screening means that many cases of cervical cancer can be prevented as changes in the cervix can be detected and treated before they develop into cancer.
