Experience
Mr Ahluwalia joined the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in 2003 as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, with a special interest in oculoplastics, orbital & adnexal surgery. He has has spent over 20 years in full-time ophthalmology and received his Higher Surgical Training in Ophthalmology at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He spent a further two years sub-specialising in ophthalmic, plastic and reconstructive surgery, first at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and then at the Royal Perth Hospital, Perth, Australia.
Mr Ahluwalia also has expertise in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery and offers cosmetic blepharoplasties (upper & lower eyelid bags surgery), brow lifts, injections for facial lines and fillers, excision of moles, lumps & cysts.
He deals with all aspects of ophthalmology but has a special interest in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery including tightening of the eyelids, ptosis correction and tear duct surgery. He has specific expertise in dealing with periocular (around the eye and on the eyelids) malignancy and is Lead Clinician of Ophthalmic Cancer Services at University Hospitals of Coventry & Warwickshire.
He received several clinical excellence awards in 2006 and 2009. He is also the Royal College tutor for Coventry and Warwickshire.
Research
He is the author of over 30 international scientific papers and has over 60 scientific paper presentations at national and international scientific meetings to his credit. He also has a Royal College approved Advanced Subspecialist Trainee attached to his firm for training in Oculoplastics.
