Helping you to manage diabetes through exercise and nutrition
If you have Diabetes, standard fitness & nutrition programmes may not be suitable for you. That’s why we offer an individually tailored exercise and nutritional programme specially designed for those with diabetes.
The diabetes programme is run over 12 weeks and is particularly suitable for those with type 2 diabetes. Focussing on both diet and exercise you’ll be able to follow a programme that not only meets your needs but is also enjoyable. You’ll be helped every step of the way by a trained Senior Wellbeing Advisor and, as with all of our programmes, it is also designed to improve your overall wellbeing.
The 12 week Diabetes programme consists of:
- An initial Health MOT with a Senior Wellbeing Advisor to record your baseline measurements.
- An assessment of your current diet and activity.
- An agreed exercise programme with a log book to record your visits, exercises and feelings – you’ll find it a useful record of what you have achieved.
- Support from your Wellbeing Advisor throughout the diabetes programme.
- Repeat of Health MOT at the end of the course.
At the end of the initial four weeks, you’ll meet with your Senior Wellbeing Advisor to evaluate your progress and discuss any changes you may wish to make. There is a further assessment after eight weeks and support available from a clinician if you need it. At the end of your 12 week diabetes programme you and your senior wellbeing advisor will reassess your results of the diabetes programme and plan your nutrition and physical exercise for the future.
