Programme for people with Diabetes

Helping you to manage diabetes through exercise and nutrition

Nuffield Health with Diabetes UK logo Assisted by Diabetes UK - the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes - our programme provides an individually tailored exercise and nutritional diabetes programme specially designed for those with diabetes.

The Programme for people with diabetes provides activity that can play an essential role in the control of diabetes by helping to control blood glucose, blood pressure and blood fat  levels,(including cholesterol) as well as helping to manage weight. As with all of our programmes it is also designed to improve overall wellbeing.

What to expect

Focusing on both diet and exercise this 12 week programme integrates a range of activities with nutrition education. With a large range of activities available, members are able to follow a programme which not only meets their needs, but which they will also enjoy. All activities are closely supervised by a Senior Wellbeing Advisor

Diabetes programme content:

    • An initial Health MOT with a Senior Wellbeing Advisor to record your baseline measurements
    • An assessment of your current diet and activity
    • An agreed exercise programme with a log book to record your visits, exercises and feelings – you’ll find it a useful record of what you have achieved
    • Support from your Wellbeing Advisor throughout the programme
    • Repeat of Health MOT at the end of the course

At the end of the initial four weeks of the diabetes programme, each member will meet with their Senior Wellbeing Advisor to evaluate progress and to support them with any changes they may wish to make. There will be a further assessment after eight weeks. Should there be any clinical issues, there will be also be support available from a clinician. Following completion of the 12 weeks there will be a reassessment session looking at the results of the programme and nutrition and activity using a health coaching workbook
